The peaceful setting of a modest village in the Andes is disturbed by the arrival of the steward of the Grand Inca, who has come to take the hefty payment that the peasants must give to the state.
In addition to depriving them of their indispensable harvests, the steward seizes the Huaca, a golden statuette representing Pachamama, goddess of the nourishing land that ensures harmony in their community. Gathering up his courage, a young rascal named Tepulpai pursues the clumsy official in order to get the precious statuette back.
En route to the capital Cuzco, the youngster is joined by his best friend, the wise Naïra, who is accompanied by her faithful llama and a friendly armadillo.
