En route to Versailles after a three-year European tour, the Mozart family stays in a monastery located several days away from their destination. Nannerl, 15, quickly becomes friends with Louise de France, one of Louis XV's daughters. Louise, who lives in the abbey with two of her sisters, gives Nannerl a letter to deliver to the Dauphin's head musician, with whom she's in love. Upon arrival in Versailles, Nannerl's parents try to get the King to notice their 11-year-old son Wolfgang, a talented composer and violin prodigy. Nannerl, whose talent as a composer is ignored by her father, accompanies him on the harpsichord. When she delivers Louise's letter, she meets the Dauphin, who is in mourning for his first wife. He's intrigued by the girl and asks her to compose for him a sonata for violin and harpsichord.
