At 19, Nadia Zouaoui was ripped from her home village of Tazmalt and married to a compatriot who had emigrated to Quebec. Several years later, she returns to the country of her youth. Her goal: to break the wall of silence in order to understand what, in this mountainous area of Algeria, stands in the way of women’s emancipation.
Her trek is enriched by the testimony of men and women of all ages, questioned about the reluctance to put a stop to repressive secular traditions.
