Friedrich Kellner was a junior judicial officer in Nazi Germany. Abhorring the policies of the regime, he wrote a series of diaries intended to alert people to the dangers of totalitarian ideologies.
His grandson, Robert Scott Kellner, while a young petty officer in the United States Navy, sought out his grandparents, coming away with the diaries that they had kept.
He promised to use the diaries as a weapon against fascism and racism. A fascinating journey that takes us from a small city in Germany to a Jewish orphanage in New Jersey and back to Germany.
