Jerusalem, 1948. Hind, a young Palestinian woman, comes across 55 newly-orphaned children after an Israeli attack. Thus was born the Dar Al Tifel orphanagea boarding school for Palestinian children.
After her mother committed suicide in 1978, Miral, a seven-year-old girl, was taken to the orphanage by her father, Jamal.
Years pass and at 17 years of age, it's time for Miral (Freida Pinto) to decide whether she wants to join the conflict or Hind's idea, that education is the only solution.
