Serbian performance artist Marina Abramović uses her own body as a vehicle to create performances that challenge, shock, and move audiences. This documentary follows her as she prepares herself and a group of artists for a three-month exhibition of her work at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The centrepiece of the show is her new performance, The Artist Is Present, which requires her constant seated presence, during which she is available for one-on-one silent interaction with the public.
