The story of two unusual families in conflictone headed by a religious bigot, the other by a reforming journalist. It is told by Xerxes, an 11-year-old football-crazy Parsi boy who has one wishwants his long-dead mother to bring the legendary French footballer Zinedine Zidane to Bombay.
The brothers love to hang out at the home of their father's archrival, Pressvala, the publisher of a liberal community newspaper whose house is always full of life, love, song, dance and laughter.
The real fireworks begin when Perssvala writes a scathing critique of would-be prophet Khodaiji and public reaction is loud and widespread. As the two households intermingle, their differences become hilariously apparent and life becomes complicated for everyone.
