In Abitibi, men armed with electric saws cut the young hardwoods to accelerate the growth of conifers for timber. These are the bushmen. Some come from as far away as Romania and Mali to fill a diminishing workforce in the Quebec lumber industry. During the course of a year, documentary filmmaker Stephen Lander filmed them at work and recorded their stories.
