Mara (Mãlina Manovici), a young Romanian woman, has just moved to the United States with her nine-year-old son Dragos, after marrying Daniel (
Dylan Smith), an American she met only a few months earlier.
The film follows her through a series of revealing encounters over the course of one day, from her problems finding a babysitter for Dragos, her unplanned and uncomfortable meeting with a U.S. immigration official, dealing with the police about leaving her son in a motel room and her difficulties at the bank in regards to getting a loan with her husband.
