In her modest Mexico City apartment, Laura, a freelance journalist originally from Oaxaca, becomes aware of both the difficulty of breaking into the job and the loneliness of big cities. To combat her boredom and despair, she regularly engages in one-night stands. But despite all efforts to avoid pain, a deep wound related to the date February 29 resurfaces. She finds companionship with Arturo, who seems to understand her. This leads to a sadomasochistic relationship which she gets into voluntarily, not knowing it will lead to the edge of an abyss.
