On the outskirts of Austin, 10-year-old Annie has no friends her own age so her daily routine is to occupy herself with solitary mischief. She destroys things with her baseball bat, heaves dough at cars and tears around on her dirt bike. Playing in the woods one afternoon, Annie hears a woman's cries for help from an abandoned well.
While Annie feels compelled to visit the well daily, she is unsure how to deal with the woman's plight.
