Its Presence Between Us
Jean and Brendan have been dating for four months now. It's that sweet spot: Brendan's still enamored with Jean's career as a painter, Jean still finds Brendan's less-than-clever jokes funny, and the more intimate of moments are still great, right?
Well, maybe not so much: Brendan's riddled with anxieties in the bedroom, as vulnerability isn't something that comes easy to him. And it certainly doesn't help that Jean has yet to let him stay the night, kicking him out before 1:00 AM every time.
Looking at the evidence, the poor man starts to assume it's because she's unfulfilled and growing distant. But when Brendan learns that not only does Jean believe in ghosts, but she's certain one visits her every night at 1:37 AM, he starts to get a better picture of his partner: She's got her own secret she feels shame about, and isn't ready to invite someone into that.
