Magnificent!

Took my nephew and daughter, both older, and they enjoyed it. They found the mechanical aspects particularly fascinating. Would recommend.

Brilliant on so many levels. Sure to garner Oscar nods. The question will be how many will Hugo take home on Oscar night?

This is one of the worst movies I've ever watched. It was so slow-pace. I slept about 8 times. Whenever I wake up, the same picture of face-of-moon-with bullet appears. I told my 13-year-old daughter, "When will this movie ever end?" and "Who is so dumb to create a movie like this?". My daughter said that the book is a lot better. I don't mean to offend anyone but this is the truth.

A wonderful, magical movie, destined to become a classic.

This plot is a triumph of storytelling with 3D adding icing to the cake.

I had no expectations going into this movie, and thought, by the poster, that it was an animated kid's movie. I was pleasantly shocked to discover that this is, by far, the most brilliant piece of movie making that I have seen since Lord of the Rings. It captures the flavour of post World War I Paris perfectly, the film quality is so lush and warm, the minor characters all fill unique supporting roles while not becoming shallow caricatures. But the biggest pleasure is to see how the whole film becomes a loving homage to the origins of the moving picture. As the reels of film within the story were in danger of being forever lost to history, so this movie serves to capture and preserve the ori

Love this movie when I watched it with my family. I thought it will bore me, but it didn't. It is just great! Thank God!

The effects were so amazing. The actual movie plot was a bit dry.But people should go see it in 3-D just to see how great it looks.

It's very good movie, stuning effects, visually beautiful...Though for me it was alittle bit too long, not enough "tention".

Good plot but dry in some parts

The only thing better than Hugo is Hugo 3D

User review rating: 5 November 27, 2011

My recommendation for movie of the year.

Leave it to a master director to show us how 3D should be done.

Hugo is a great looking 3D movie about an orphan boy, (why isn't his name Olivier?), living in a Parisian train station with a mysterious broken down clockwork man. He's aided in his quest to solve the mystery of the tin man by his side-Kick-Ass counterpart, Chloe Moretz , all while being hunted by Sascha Baron Cohen as a buffoonish stationmaster. Cohen provides about the only levity in a rather inert story, because, hohum, the mystery is not very gripping. The reveal appeal is more for film history nerds than anyone else, because most kids will be bored by the story not far into the start of this over long flick.

Hugo is a wondrous tale anout an orphan whose quest for a new connection to his late father leads him to friendship, and a new family. Everything about Hugo is a delight - from Scorsese's amazing use of 3D as an integral part of the storytelling process to the performances of Asa Bautterfield [as Hugo] and Chloe Grace Moretz [as Isabelle] to the way he integrates a bit of film history painlessly into the proceedings. Huog is one of the best films of the year.

For fans of Scorsese films--don't miss this one with a special story that will keep you entertained for the 2 hours plus film plus great special effects in 3D--the youngsters in the film steal every scene they are in--great family fun--!

I was a "good" movie, no better. I think this movie was too character driven for children. Too mature for children, too young for adults. Although I could appreciate the storyline and "old" movie making and footage, I doubt many other movie goers, especially children (which I think it is geared to) will care about.
