How to be a Good Wife

France, mid-1960s. Paulette Van Der Beck runs a domestic school that prepares young girls for their future duties as stay-at-home mothers and submissive and smiling wives. When her husband, the director of the establishment, suddenly dies, Paulette finds herself drowning in debt. As she begins to question her life choices for the first time, Paulette is inspired by the May 1968 demonstrations in Paris. She suddenly feels carried away by a wind of liberation that could signal both the beginning of her freedom, but also the end of her school.
