In the early 19001s, Tyrone Bankston (Brown) spends his life in pursuit of romance and adventure, neglecting his wife and son Harry (Clark) who remain at home. When his wife unexpectedly dies, Tyrone takes Harry on a grizzly bear hunt in the wild Canadian west, with the intent to capture this fierce animal alive. He decides to camp at Grizzly Falls, where he had lost his own father many years before.
Out west, he hires a hunting party, which includes an Indian tracker and friend, Joshua (Jackson), as well as, Genet (Tobias), a nasty hunter with an obsession to kill.
It all goes horribly wrong after they capture a pair of grizzly cubs. When the mother finds her cubs locked up in a massive steel cage, she abducts Harry and sets off on a trek through the mountains with him. Despite an injury Tyrone and Joshua frantically follow them.
