Early-20th-century Italian warrior-poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. A model for Mussolini who ruled Rijeka, Croatia, with an iron fist, D'Annunzio's 16-month reign left such a legacy that current denizens (street-cast in a brilliant montage) are more than a little willing to play-act as his soldiers.
