Paulette, an old lady whose spent all her life drinking, remembers the events which caused
her distress and added to her misfortune -- she was married to a womanizer and gave birth
to a son, Rene. Due to his infidelity, she turned to alcohol to ease the disappointment
after her son's birth. Her husband leaves her, and she becomes the mistress of a lawyer
who promises to one day marry her, but never follows through.
