Biggest time waster.
Fantastic film. Huge in scope but thought through to the last detail. Even just the way they incorporated different aspect ratios to enhance story telling. Just so impressive and truly universal. Not sure why people who didn't finish the movie feel entitled to share their irrelevant opinions. You can dislike a movie you didn't give a chance but maybe keep that embarrassing opinion to yourself.
Somewhat weird movie but great in a way, a philosophical drama fantasy comedy I guess. Both a mother-daughter and wife-husband story with a lot of action (occasionally a bit overdone). I’m still wondering about the greater meaning of the Nothing Bagel. Enjoyable overall!
Seen it three times now, and it’s getting better every time I watch it. Ok, it seems frequently silly, but funny in a lot of ways, and then has its very philosophical moments. I’m left with a good fuzzy feeling at the end, even though apparently still not understanding everything in its entirety (except that you should stay clear of the nothing bagel and google eyes). Just enjoy and don’t overthink it.
Nothing is wrong with people who like this movie. Yes, it’s silly and chaotic at times, but then also deeply philosophical, a hilarious comedy, and frequently just an action movie. There is quite a bit of family values along with the usual conflicts, and the what-ifs of what would have happened if we had chosen a different path at any time of our lives, with each decision spawning a new universe (ok, now it’s getting mind-boggling). Jamie Lee Curtis is perfect as the grumpy IRS agent, and I was thrilled to see Shorty again on the big screen. Great effects and editing. So, just open your mind and you may enjoy it!
Terrible movie don't know what wrong with people liking this crap. The script was all over the place. Goes to a hotdog finger reality, blow up a man head into confetti, Fight and killed with dildos. This was retarded mess. It pained me to watch it. It should have been Everything everywhere but on my TV. No stars
Worst movie ever. Cannot understand why it won awards??? Stopped after 30 min. Its really puzzling that people like this....
Ok, so a bit too long and a bit too chaotic, but I loved the symbolism of the different universes and acting. It just was a pleasure to watch. You will never look at your breakfast bagel the same way s before. 😎
This is a big, eye-popping movie that you need to see on a big screen. There is humor, but also surprising depth. Pay attention to the family issues at the beginning, and notice how the movie ends, and it will all make beautiful and maybe even life-changing sense.
The worst movie I have ever seen. I don't recommend. Don't waste your money and time. For the first time in my life I left the theater 1 hour after the movie started. Horrible.
Seemingly chaotic, a beautiful story in the end. Another original and unique film by A24. This ratings section is skewed because clearly some troll had a bad experience and is just making multiple 1 star reviews. Sure it may not be for everyone but some of those reviews come from a deep hate.
A cultural movie that transcends race despite the Asian premise. To invite discussion, I would call this a modern day version of It's a Wonderful Life with a cultural theme. The protagonist is overwhelmed with an unforgiving past, a multi level threat in the now and a ruinous future and the story unfolds with modernistic, perhaps unrealistic, versions, visions or dreams of what the outcome will be for her and her family. Her whole universe is merely a reflection of what people today are facing with their upbringing, their marriages, their children, their professions and occupations, their money problems, their frustrations with the myriad of issues that they must confront. The themes are universal. The only way to assess this powerful movie is to view it in a theater and pay attention to the nonsensical mess and allow the ending to give you the understanding of why this movie gives us hope during a time when hope is often lacking!!
Best picture?! What?!! Seemingly made by 8-year-old gamers, this thing is a royal mess. The story, such as it is, about a mother-daughter conflict around cultural entrapment, or something --how many cliches can fit on the head of a pin?--is buried in kung fu glitter. And bagels. Mother and father are both terrific actors wasted on this digital dog pile. And while Jamie Lee Curtis is hilarious, it's all schtick, easy for her. Best picture over The Banshees of Inisherin, All Quiet...any of the others, really. Save your money and your sanity.
Quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. Don't waste your time. Diversity at the Oscars was the only reason this one wins.
Non sensical martial arts; back and forth in time; no continuity; the actors seemed to be sleepwalking through between action scenes. I walked out; thought it was kinda stupid and waste of my time.
It was difficult to understand at first, probably because of the rapid speech and Asian accents. Visually appealing but confusing. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for this particular movie but it was way to long.
A lot of nonsense, time travel, jumping in and out of places, fighting, space travel?, and no plot.
Starts with mother trying to introduce her daughter as Lesbian to her father. Does ns+ endless martial arts, psychedelic nonsense,. incoherent time travel and switching from scene to another randomly. Ending? Lesbian daughter is formally introduced to father without protest. Worst movie I've ever sat through - hoping for some sanity.
It's weird. Lots of What the ? moments. Also deep and emotional and several levels. It is not a movie for simpletons. This movie is easily the best movie I saw this year. And Yes, I love Marvel movies. I Love Michael Bay movies. This is for intellectual and emotional stimulation.
Hipster trash. Avoid.
It did not take any real talent to make this movie. It was a complete waste of the time it took to view it. Everything it had to offer could have been communicated in 1/2 hour (at the most). I've lost all faith (once again) in the Academy. This ranks right up (?) there with Crash.
I laughed, I cried, I pondered. Great movie.
Hands down one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The good reviews and Oscar praise are truly mind boggling. I kept hoping this might have some redeeming value and finally turned it off 2/3 of the ways through the movie. It is that bad. I cannot fathom how so many people enjoyed this - a 13 year old boy could have written and directed this, 80% of the movie is pointless “action” scenes that include middle school humor and completely unnecessary gore. I am speechless
The movie was totally confusing and crazy. I cannot believe that it got best movie award. Worst would have been more accurate.
I think it was the most wild ride I was ever on. Deserved the awards it received. Tour de confusion & sensory overload also as some commentors described. Some what of an emotional roller coaster. NOT the simple plot, NOT THE SIMPLE ANYTHING movie. I will have to watch again to fully comprehend, simply put - it's not a movie for every one. Really enjoyed, besides the whole movie, the laugh-out-loud humor moments.
The acting was really good. The writing was abysmal. The themes were ridiculous. The back story of the main villain is that her perspective was expanded so much that she turned evil. This is the dumbest concept I have ever heard. Expanding your perspective does the opposite of turn you into a raging maniac. The villain is thwarted by giving her a hug. This is after this girl has murdered her mother and grandfather as well as entire universes of people. There is nothing sympathetic about her. The hero is the mom an adult woman. The adult woman is upset because the mom tells the senile grandfather that her girlfriend is her ‘friend’ to prevent the senile old man from getting confused. The lesson the mom learns is that her adult child being upset is her fault and that she needs to love her more. Again, the daughter is an adult. This is literally the worst movie I have ever seen. I honestly think who ever wrote it did so to make fun of bratty young adults who blame everything on their parents. That’s the only way I can get behind this. Based on other people’s reactions to the movie, though, that doesn’t appear to be what it is.
Waste of 2 hours .
Love it! First time not so much. Then, I watched some of the interviews of the actors and directors. Watched it a second time and understand it better. Will probably go back to see it again and again. I definitely identify myself with Ms Yeoh!!! You go girl :-))
The Academy ignores the marvel Universe, and give this the Oscar to prove its not Racist, what a joke , completely rigged,
I can’t even figure out how the screen play was written or the actors learned their lines. It was ludicrous, tasteless, and a waste of 2 hours.
Definitely not for morons. Otherwise it’s a hoot. ??
What a joke. Worst movie ever!
A waste of 2 hours of my life. The filmmakers and directors must have been on some heavy drugs when they made this. Just a mash up of all stupid movies. Terrible!
I don't get this movie, or why it's gotten so many awards, really? It seems the reviews are either the best movie or the worst. I would say it the worst for me.
Just awful, I can’t believe the ratings!!!!!!
The scenes with the IRS lady were funny and entertaining, but the rest of the movie is steeped in confusion.
Lame. A 'deep' movie for simpletons.
I utterly lost interest after 15 minutes, and only stayed because I was with a friend. Turned out she also didn't like it.
I really liked this movie, I love the idea of multiple lives or universes running parallel to each other. Also a good movie about the complications of relationships, especially mother/daughter relationships.
gets you to think
This film is genius. It really is. The comedy, the action, the meaningfulness behind it. It is a true masterpiece. It saddens me some people aren't able to grasp the message of the movie/understand it, because it truly is magnificent. Regardless, most reviews agree this is one of the best movies ever made. Iconic.
this movie is fantastic. It made me cry harder than I had in a long, long time. So so glad I finally have a chance to see it in theaters.
This movie was stupendous. I had to watch it a second time to get over the sensory overload and really appreciate the film, but once I did, I was sold. It’s the first film I’ve seen that directly tackles the cynicism and bitterness that I and so many other millennials and Gen Zers feel in regards to our future. This movie is sharp and has a lot of heart. Highly recommend!
Attempting to make serious and poignant observations about life, love and relationships over the gimmicky imagery of buttplugs and hotdog fingers. Is this a joke? Probably the worst film I've seen all year.
Unique so the critics loved it. Very confusing, convoluted movie. I was welcoming the end of it. I found it to have few redeeming features.
i cried starting at 50% through the movie all the way to the end. incredibly well done movie
I hated it. Notice how most of the positive reviews here make cheap insults at the people who didn't like it. Why is TRIBUTE leaving these horrible reviews up?
Can't get enough. The themes of stopping the cycles of intergenerational traumas, nihilism, Buddhist imagery. The film is rich and touching. I can't think of a better film. I don't even know what words to put. The fight choreography gives me chills. The comedy is hilarious. Anyone coming up here to rate 1 stars is a HATER and a troglodyte w/ middle school level comprehension.
It’s not just broad comedy, insightful look into family live and disappointment, crazy sci-fi plots, and wonderful acting by all involved. It’s novel, cool and unforgettable. You may need to see it twice to get over the first shocking wild ride and understand it the second time.
This is a wonderful journey into multiple dimensions I cannot believe how terrible movies are these days and for once a reason to go see something in the theaters! This is a new favorite!
