this was a terrible movie, one of those where they play up the big name actor.
great movie...with an 80's feel...great music.
Really bad. Ryan O'Neil where are you. This was really a slow, boring bad movie. Hardly any driving and long pauses with Gosling. Terrible.
Loved it....an understated action flick. Albert Brooks will win an oscar for this role.
Overly stylized film with little character development and poor writing. Gratuitously gory. Highly disappointing.
This was a good grizzly crime movie. It had a ver 80's feel too it. Some scenes were out of focus which is an annoying and unnecessary filming technique. However, it was well acted.
Brilliant Film!
Deep, slow, mesmerizing film. You will find it thoroughly enjoyable
This is a great movie. If you get often annoyed that 'fancy' restaurants don't serve normal 'ol burgers and fries, thought the Fast and the Furious franchise was "awwwwe-some", wouldn't be caught dead in Starbuck's/Bridghead and think that Tim Horton's coffee is waaay better anyway, read your last book over a year ago and/or because you 'had to', then I'm pretty sure you'll HATE this movie. If on the other hand you seek out innovative cuisine, never visit Tim Hortin's because if you wanted something that bad you'd check into a cheap motel and brew one yourself, think Fast and the Furious and the like are really all the same tired, formulaic movie made solely to help fools part with their mon
LOVED IT!!...not for everyone, but I found engrossing and highly entertaining.
THE WORST MOVIE EVER!!!! save ur money and time. horrible from cast to screenplay, it was painfully slow, had nothing to do with driving, and overall very amateur.
It's really boring, don't expect an action movie
They should have called this movie "Stare", there was so little driving in it. The often quiet pensive scenes were senseless and took away from the movie tremendously. The cast of characters were good, but the movie was horrible.
Movie is way to slow, story could have been done in a 30 minute movie.
A perfect entertainment experience! Ryan Gosling is the best actor in movies today. Superbly directed and great supporting actors. Not for mindless movie goers though. You've gotta appreciate ART to truly appreciate the way this film was presented.
AWESOME MOVIE!!!. Albert Brooks was hilarious!
Movie is good, not what I expected but in a good way!
This is a very divisive movie...some will hate it,some will love it...regardless, the movie will elicit some reaction fromthe viewer, whcih is one reason we go to the movies. It's a matter of taste..I for one loved it...thought the acting and direction was brilliant....far too often we are over done with sound and explosions - it was nice to see an "action" movie that was confident enough to stay subtle
Ok, I went with my 27 year old son, (I'm 56) we were both of the same opinion... This movie SUCKS... Don't waste your money!
BUYER BEWARE! Notice I have given a 5 star rating. What I didn't enjoy is all the childish comments and inappropriate laughter from some of the audience. It's not a age thing or a cultured thing, its a mater of taste. Not everyone would enjoy how the detector held a scene for five minutes in dead silence for more than a few times. One can edit this film to a length of half hour and still tell the same story but it wouldn't be the same film and that's one of the things i like about it. I am not cultured in any way but I can stare at a painting for 10 minutes even if I don't fully understand the brush strokes or the meaning behind the use of color. Go see the film and maybe you can see beauty
Listen to the reviews people. SAVE your money! Not even looking at Ryan makes this one worthwhile. You've been warned. I should have listened to all those reviews I read before going!
Great movie.
Fabulous movie..Shot like an 'Art' piece..Gosling is amazing in this movie...caring, intelligent and emotionally remote..or borerline psychopath? Carrie Mulligan plays her role as the isolated angelic, young mother and wife to perfection..Albert Brooks is surpisingly frightening and believeable in this uncharacteristic role..A great movie!
Terrible movie complete waste of time.Almost fell asleep and I never do.
Drive is a great movie. The problem is the marketing of the movie - it is not another version of 'The Transporter" or "The Italian Job". It is a character driven movie, with some violent scenes to add affect. If you go in there wanting to see non-stop action then it is not the movie for you. But, from a storytelling standpoint, it is amazing.
One of the best movies I've seen in recent years. The tone and buildup were fantastic. Obviously the reviews against it like brainless crap like Bruckheimer shells out.
The worst movie I have ever seen! Everyone knows me to appreciate every film, and I really tried but it sucked so bad that I actually searched the reviews after. Can't stand ppl trying to act artistic n saying it's good. The direction failed! There was 1 good chase seen. Do not promo it as a wild getaway driver plot with crazy chase scenes. All gr was doing was driving around at night like a creep. They weren't even talking. Real akward! I appreciate "films" as well and this my artistic friends failed. I felt like killing myself.
outstanding...adn art film and an action film meshed into one....great movie!!
If you're looking for The Fast And The Furious I suggest you stay at home and watch that instead... If you enjoyed No Country For Old Men and its style of story telling then Drive is a must see. Brilliant film making.
Darn. HATED IT! It's official: I hate the last two movies that Ryan Gosling has recently starred in even though I love him. Sigh...
The trailer to this movie hyped it up too much. I actually fell asleep during this movie
Very good movie! Its sorta an art film, mixed with some extreme violence and even a horror undertone and one point during the movie. Not to mention a few amazing drive sequences. True there are long pauses in the dialog but thats because you know what they're thinking. If you dont, then the only movies you can enjoy are brainless movies like Transformers. ( I like Transformers too but I know its a brainless movie)
i would have hoped that a movie centred around car chases woild have more then two mediocre chases. what a lazy excuse for a car chase flick. do cops not exist in this version of LA? don't waste your time or money...gosling looked like a zombie...
Yawn, actually fell asleep for the first time in ten years. This was soooooo slow. Also the toothpick doesn't make a tough guy. He did not fit the part.
Honestly, awesome movie! Yeah, there were some awkward silences, not to mention the 80's music, but this movie kicked ass. I especially liked how it was filmed, it definitely set a certain tone. Very different to see Gosling act such a violent role, but it was very good to see him branching out. This movie was suspenseful, punctuated by real life, graphic violence; very brutal, very real. Good story, good flick. See it now.
A great movie...but if you're looking for Transformer 3 action, go elsewhere.
This movie was total bullshit!! There were so many pauses it was ridiculous. What the hell was Ryan Gosling thiking by accepting this role? I guess the fact that he had no lines to memorize was the deal breaker. What a complete waste of time and money. Do not see this movie, you will literally die of bordeom. The trailer for this movie was completely misleading. Aside from the abrupt scenes of gory violence, NOTHING HAPPENS IN THIS MOVIE!!!!! Gosling's sudden fascination with the main female character was completely unrealistic. The constant staring contests between Gosling's character and "Irene" were soooooooooooooooo stupid and utterly annoying. What the hell was the relevance of i
I just loved the way this movie was shot. The mood, music and rising tension until it explodes in violence that admittedly is very graphic. Not for everyone, but probably my favourite movie of the year.
Don't bother with it. It's a very slow movie with intermittant gore. Unless you enjoy watching still pictures for 15 seconds at a time separated by lots of blood, stay home...or take a book with you.
Understated brilliance by Gosling as the reluctant hero a la Eastwood's 60's westerns. Definitely not a "Fast & Furious" so look elsewhere for CGI car chases and 'splosions! Think Bullitt if Michael Mann had directed. Beware the graphic violence that punctuates this otherwise quiet, and surprisingly moving film.
Honestly, I tried so hard to like this movie. I'm not a huge Ryan Gosling fan by any means but I was actually excited for this movie from the trailers I had seen and I couldn't have been more let down. The dialogue was absolute garbage with everyone speaking at about seven words a minute- and half of the movie was either awkward silences or slow motion shots of the main character driving around or sitting in his apartment assumably pondering the life choices that have lead him to this point in his movie career. I haven't ever walked out of a movie before but I'll admit after an hour an a half of having nothing to look at I had to leave the theater. I can appreciate most artistic visions i
One of the best movies in recent times. Homage to the best film of the '80s. Excellent.
Don't waste your money going to this one. You stare at Ryan Goslings face close up, in awkward silence for most of the movie. While all of the action only takes up about 10 min of the whole movie.
The WORST movie I've seen in a long time. Bored me to tears. The story had the potential to be a good movie, but fell totally flat.
This movie was great. One of the best of the year.
Very slow, but a thinker.
Skip it. Ryan Gosling is amazing as always, but the movie lacks substance.
This was a pointless waste of time...nothing made sense. This is probably the worst movie I've seen ever!!! Don't even wait for video!
Anyone expecting a standard action film, or something that isn't violent, should stay away. But it's a beautifully shot, well-acted film, well worth seeing.
The problem is, teenagers went to see this film because of Ryan Gosling and were not mature enough to handle him in this subject matter. I am a 20 year old film fan and i thought this film was terrific, a true artists film that is mixed with its own edge and style. This film IS for fans of "FILM" and not for fans of seeing a handsome actor in a movie. That's the problem with al ot of the people who saw it. They simply were not mature enough. High suspense, high tension, great film.
