A commentary about the suffering of the impoverished fishermen of Mwanza, Tanzania, brought about by capitalism and globalization. The Nile Perch, a species of enormous fish that was introduced into Lake Victoria a few decades ago, has since wiped out the lake’s other marine life.
The Perch has become a major export for the dinner tables of two million Europeans every day, yet the people who live in Mwanza are starving, and the planes that export the popular fish also deliver arms back to Africa.
