This historical epic dramatizes the life of Egyptian Queen Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor), who transforms from the Pharaoh’s sister on the sidelines of power to a Queen in the midst of the power struggle between Egypt and the Roman Empire.
On her journey to power, Cleopatra has a love affair with Julius Caesar (Rex Harrison), and their relationship takes her to the Roman Empire, where she struggles to win the approval of the Senate and the citizens. Complications arise, and she finds herself in another love affair with Marc Anthony (Richard Burton), who’s caught in the middle of his own power struggle.
