Early in 2000, French director Claude Sautet, though dying from cancer, agreed to discuss his

filmography with documentary filmmaker N.T. Binh and journalist Domenica Rabourdin, but only on one condition -- if it wasn't filmed. Besides commenting on his feature films, such as Classe tous risques (1960) and Nelly et Monsieur Arnaud (1995), Sautet reminisced about his beginnings as an assistant-director, his work as a consultant on many screenplays, his quick temper and his political disillusion. After his death on July 22, 2000, Binh and Rabourdin also interviewed some of his former collaborators and his wife, Graziella.
