California, 1987. While on the run, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), a young girl who's just about to turn 18 and is trying to find her place in the world, discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When she tries to revive him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
