Shaggy vagrant Camiel Borgman is on the run. When a priest and two other men drive him out of his underground hideout, along with his two co-horts, Borgman gets away and winds up in an affluent suburb, where he knocks on the door of an ultra-modern residence and asks if he can take a bath. He angers Richard, the man who answers the door, and is physically attacked by him. Richard’s wife, Marina, feels terrible about what happened and without telling her husband, invites Borgman in to clean up.
Borgman gets a job as a gardener with them and Marina puts him up in the guest cottage on their estate. The cunning and deceivingly charming man manages to exercise mind control over Marina and her three young children. He then calls in his criminal friends to him with his landscaping duties. However, his friends include two murderers, as well as people who specialize in disappearances, and they help set his diabolical plan in motion.
