After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River, Connecticut. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia (Winona Ryder) is a TV show host who talks to the dead. Having learned from Delia (Catherine O'Hara) that her father Charles has died, Lydia goes to pick up her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega) from boarding school.
Astrid thinks Lydia's a phony who only pretends to see the dead and she hates her mother's manager, Rory (Justin Theroux), who wants to marry Lydia.
Meanwhile, Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) has problems of his own. His dead wife Delores (Monica Bellucci) is out to get him, so he needs Lydia to marry him now more than ever.
With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
