Anne
Orphan Anne Shirley (Amybeth McNulty) is sent to Prince Edward Island to live with elderly Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson) and his sister Marilla Cutherbert (Geraldine James) at Green Gables farm in Avonlea.
Having lived with abusive foster parents, Anne is scarred by her previous situations but thrilled she she discovers she won't be expected to care for small children and do chores all day long. However, she's extremely disappointed when she learns Marilla wanted a boy, in order to have help around the farm for Matthew. Although Marilla threatens to send the girl back, shy Matthew develops a soft spot for her.
Loosely based on the Anne of Green Gables series of novels by Canadian author L.M. Montgomery.
