Fleeing religious persecution in Germany, the Leininger family seeks a new start in America in 1755. In a terrifying raid, Delaware Indian warriors kidnap the two young Leininger daughters, Barbara and Regina, and take them over 300 miles away through the wilderness to Ohio.
As the Indians attempt to indoctrinate them into native culture, the sisters are sustained by their abiding trust in God and their hope of escape. The eldest, Barbara, finally makes a break for it, pursued by her captors through wild and dangerous terrain.
