Where does everyone learn their history, in the states? Oliver Stone must have learned it there also. The problem is that people on both sides of the modern argument insist on looking at the question as if Alexander and Hephaistion lived now. But they didn`t. They lived then. And they thought about it all differently from the way we do. Too many people insist on filtering facts through the beliefs and customs of their own society (or religion or political agenda), and don`t see that people in other places and times really can think differently about very basic things, including sex.

Great film the director pictured the real alexander and all his family,you know problems with his father and his mother Alexander the Great was an excellent movie and well portrayed. I have a problem with people claiming that it was in accurate and provide no support as to how it`s inacurate. I`m sure that Oliver Stone did do research for this movie, This film presents an intense psychological investigation of the character of Alexander of Macedon.the war scenary is great. I agree that colin might not be as charming as Alexander was, but the scenary, the fighting scene, is worth the ticket. I know much about his conquest territory,most event

Okay, point to make...TROY WAS MYTH. GREEK MYTH! Also, Alexander historically accurate? No one has even proven if Alexander really exisited. So...both Troy and Alexander are based on anothers stories meant to entertain. That is right...a story...not history or fact. Some parts of actual history have been used in both films around the main characters/story line to make them more interesting, sorry to break all you history buffs blabbering dreams!

I think Alexander was a great movie and it was, lets say 95% accurate (historically that is)... but there`s 2 ways to look at it... if you`re interested in history and like movies that are based on history and like battles etc.etc. then id say Alexander is an amazing movie.. i found it more interesting and accurate than Troy.. on the other hand if you`re looking for some sexxy movie with chicks and "oh my sweet girlfriend lets go to movies" or "yo man lets go to some cool movie tonite" uve chosen the wrong movie... find urself something better to do.. otherwise ENJOY!

How can you compare Alexander to Braveheart or Troy? They are completely different stories about completely different people. Out of these three movies Alexander (maybe not the most entertaining) was the most accurate historically in giving an account of what really happened.

You cannot have a movie based entirely on battle scenes. There has to be a little bit of character development. This movie is not for shallow people who only go to movies to see action or to laugh. It is the story of one of history`s greatest people. It is a colossal undertaking to rectreate the life of Alexander on the big screen in three hours. Keep all of this in mind before saying this was a bad movie.

First of all most of you people have to learn how to write and spell. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Secondly, the movie was quite accurate, you must allow Hollywood to make a few minor changes...I mean they never made a historical movie that was 100% accurate. Furhtermore, homosexuality and bisexuality were very common in Greek culture during the period in which Alexander lived, the loser who said that it was common in France obviously knows nothing about history and should start reading a little before making any comments. Great battle scenes.

I gave this movie a 1 Star because I couldn`t give it anything lower. The rampant homo-eroticism and the complete disregard for anything historical makes the movie deviate away from what Alexander the Great truly was. And that wasn`t a homo that enojoyed watching dancing other homos. P.S. I hate you Oliver Stone.

i paid to see a movie, not a history lesson. on most parts historically accurate, angelina was amazing...everything else was not. i actually considered demanding a refund from the manager because this movie was so bad. i recommended it to all my friends so they can suffer and cringe like i did.

Over 3 hours of aboslute garbage. Could have easiliy been jammed into 2 hours. If you`re looking for a Braveheart or Troy here don`t bother. It was rotten. Not even worth renting. First time I almost ever had to leave the theatre because I was so bored.

99.99% correct and accurate! most events in the film are historically correct, such as taming the horse, his boyfriend died of Typiods, and his death,i also felt his relation with hephaistion was beyond homosexualiy and i was more a soul relation i`m not lesbian but angelina looked so hot : )

Terrible! The movie just drags on and on and all those stupid closups of Colin Farrels face! I laugh at the fact that they call this guy a "Bad Boy"! They tryed to make this movie better than Brave Heart with Farrel playing the type of role that Mel Gibson had in Brave Heart and failed the test! Very boring movie! One star outa five.

This movie was incorrect and incomplete. I think Hollywood has lots of gays. Centuries ago homosexuality did not existed but it did in France. Alexander history was inacurate and the director made him look like awfull perhaps because Collin Farrel is womanizer. History about Persians is also incorrect and incomplete. The movie symbolized Persians are Arabs and Turkish. Is completly inacurate. Persians have Aryan anscenctry. Angelina Jolie played very good. She should deserve and Oscar for her role.

Boring and derivative. Gladiator did it all better, and managed to keep things crisp. Action scenes were good, but got boring (a very bad thing). It seems "Aye laddie" is a greek phrase. Who knew? Angelina Jolie did ok though.

This was the best movie I have seen in years. Unlike Troy that hide the fact of the lovers Achillies, Brad Pitt, and Protrocolis. At least oliver Stone had the grace and courage to tell the true side of Alexander and his love life.

Although most critics slammed Alexander for being too long, I thoroughly enjoyed it perhaps because I was in no hurry to get somewhere else. Like drinking a fine wine, I savoured the experience.

I want my money and 3 hours of my life back. I also don`t understand why Oliver made such a big deal out of Alexander`s homosexuality in the whole movie. I mean, that wasn`t the major thing about the man that people need to pay attention on. It`s just too much time used to describe on that single issue in the movie. Totally not good. It`s like making a movie about, let`s say, WWII and spending a big chunk of films shooting Antarctica in the early 40`s - just not the major spot people would pay attention to about WWII in a general sense.

Wow, If you like Gay men kissing and a movie where most of his good battles are narrated. Then this is the movie for you. All of Alexanders huge fight scences were not actted out but rather told to you. It made the movie boring. The only thing that was good about it was....>Wait no. It was terrible.

I honestly thought that Alexander the Great was an excellent movie and well portrayed. I have a problem with people claiming that it was in accurate and provide no support as to how it`s inacurate. I`m sure that Oliver Stone did do research for this movie. And the parts that people claim are inacurate are parts of history that can be debated from country to country. Each person has a different side of the story to tell and this is the one that Oliver Stone decided to show. If anyone has a problem with the way it was depicted go make your own production.

This movie was pretty boring. The casting was awful, I don`t know what they were thinking putting Colin Farrell there, and if you wanna see a great historical epic, go get Troy when it comes out. This was such a waste of time.

Can I rate a movie ZERO stars??? Without a doubt the worst movie I have ever seen! The plot was nebulous, the acting second-rate. Colin Farrell, what have you done? The battle scene was almost as confused as Colin Farrell`s love life. This movie was a total waste of time. Absolute garbage!

Historically inaccurate, as a person who is half persaian ( half Italian), i`m verry disappointed in the poor portrayal of the persians in this movie. Roxane was not portrayed accuratly and i find it very offensive. Persians at this time ( before the Arabic conquest and mixture) would have looked much lighter skinned and would have resembeled the greeks and romans at this time. Let`s not forget that they were decendancts of the Aryans. I was really disapponted at hte hisrorical inaccuracy not only of Alexanred but also of Persians in this movie and i find it very unfair.

The worst movie ever. It was not historically accurate. The director has done NO research at all about other countries, the only research that he has done was about Greek Myths, that is the only thing I can say was nicely narrated. Other than that it was not historically accurate. Senses are not the right senses ( Persepolis was burned by Alexander the Great in 331 B.C) which was not shown in the movie…. Movie was GREAT DISAPOINTMENT...

Alexander the not-so-great movie was an unfortunate waste of time and dollars. My wife and I both found ourselves checking our watches as this movie delivers tiresome monologues, poor acting (Irish and English accents?) and dull battle scenes. Colin Farrell gave tiresome speaches about vision and destiny to the point where you`re glad someone finally poisons him. Anthony Hopkins has made the worst performance of his life. Val Kilmer lacks a genuine feel, it looks like he`s acting. Angelina Jolie did a good job but due to poor direction was lost in a sea of confusion and mismanaged actors. 0 Stars

damn, I cancelled dinner reservations at the BEST restaurant in town to see this stinkin movie...I`m really wishin` I didn`t. I hated that movie....but there was one really good thing about it....It was great napping material...i`ve never slept sooo good in a movie theatre before...congrats to the writers of alexander for making this movie such a good movie to fall asleep to.

What was Oliver Stone thinking? Sadly miscast film..... Anthony Hopkins gives a one-note performance, Val Kilmer overacts, Angelina Jolie is totally unbelievable as Alexander`s mother, and Colin Farrell lacks the charisma to pull this one off. this was the single biggest waste of time i have ever subjected myself too, with the exception of angelina jolie being as attractive as she always manages to be...this movie was a big mistake... problems with it as follows. only two fight scenes to document a man who conquered half the world fight scenes were not realistic at all when the men weren`t fighting they were loving to much male homosexuality bad movie that stretched on for to long save your money and pick something else
