When director Carole Laganière’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, she experienced a sense of abandonment. To better understand her feelings, Laganière met with a variety of people who were also faced with loss, emptiness and absence. Nathalie, a young Quebecer, travels to Toronto in search of her sister who disappeared four years earlier. Ines, a Croatian immigrant, returns to her country to find her mother, who abandoned the family in 1993 during the war. Deni, an American author, goes in search of his Quebec roots. Through their stories, Laganière explores various forms of absence and its painful impact on our daily lives.
