One night Vincent, a solitary man, decides to release Gaëlle, the girl he kidnapped eight years earlier, imprisoning her in his basement. Having spent half her life in captivity, the 16-year-old no longer knows how to interact socially. She finds refuge at a center for people with mental disorders, where she talks to a sympathetic psychiatrist and, with a certain coldness, welcomes the attentions of her parents, who divorced following her disappearance. Haunted by memories of her captivity with Vincent, Gaëlle struggles to regain a normal life.
