Sam (Justin Long) is suffering from writer's block. He comes up with a fake identity to win over local street artist Birdie (Evan Rachel Wood). His roommate suggests checking her Facebook profile, where Sam learns how to shape himself into the ideal man for her.
After pretending to accidentally meet at a comedy club, Sam begins to write a novel based on their relationship.
