When Victor’s widowed mother decides, despite his objections, to leave France to settle in Quebec where she has found a job, the teen drags himself through the halls of his new high school. Ordered by the principal to study in the library after he’s late yet again to class, Victor, who always does whatever what he wants, goes for a smoke on the roof of the facility instead. While up there, he spots another student balanced precariously on the ledge. After accidentally causing the young boy, who was about to jump anyway, to fall, Victor, on impulse, grabs the MP3 player he finds near the body, then triggers the fire alarm before taking off. The following day, Victor insists he’s innocent when investigators question him; he loses his virginity in the arms of a female classmate; argues with his mother who’s going out with a co-worker; and under false pretenses contacts the mother of the deceased in order to understand the reasons for the boy’s suicide. Finally, with the help of the dead boy’s best friend and a video he finds on the MP3 player, Victor hopes to clear up the mystery.
