Therapist Jimmy Laird (Jason Segel) is drowning in grief after his wife’s death and starts breaking professional rules by telling his patients exactly what he thinks and actively meddling in their lives.

His ethically dubious "brutal honesty" approach triggers major, often funny and chaotic changes for his patients, his strained relationship with his teenage daughter, and his colleagues, including his gruff mentor Paul, played by Harrison Ford.
