In the official trailer for the historical thriller Detroit, we hear a newscaster talking about how Detroit is at war in the summer of 1967 on the city's west side, as actual footage of the riots is shown. U.S. Army paratroopers, National Guardsmen and the state and local police are continuing the fight against a handful of snipers. The phone rings. A man (John Boyega) in a uniform picks it up and says "Everything is fine. No trouble here. I'll sleep when they stop rioting."

A music group arriving in town on a bus can't believe what they're seeing. They decide to go to the Algiers motel until the rioting blows over. When a man, playing with a gun, shoots it at the Algiers, the police hear it and come running, taking everyone inside hostage in a show of obvious police brutality. Based on the true story behind one of the most terrifying events in the history of Detroit.
