Born in Santa Monica, California, Tyler Garcia Posey began performing in commercials at the age of five. His father, actor/writer John Posey, brought Tyler with him on movie and television sets before the boy could even walk.
Tyler made his feature film debut with a small role in Men of Honor (2000), starring Robert De Niro. His first big break came at the age of eight, when he landed a role alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Collateral Damage (2002). The feature film, originally due to come out in 2001, was postponed and came out early in 2002 instead. At nine, he landed a recurring lead role on the TV series Doc. The series, filmed in Toronto, features Billy Ray Cyrus as Doc Cassidy, a Montana country doctor who ends up in New York City. Posey plays Raul Garcia, a young boy who is orphaned in the series' pilot, but is taken under Cassidy's wing. In 2001, Posey received a Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a TV Comedy Series - Supporting Young Actor.
During a break in filming from Doc, Tyler played Jennifer Lopez's son in the feature Maid in Manhattan (2002). He then returned to Toronto to continue his role on Doc, for PAX TV.
In 2011, when Tyler was in his late teens, he landed the starring role in the MTV summer series Teen Wolf, an action drama series about a young man who becomes a werewolf, but struggles to remain good. The show was a huge hit and ran for six seasons. He then landed the role of Adam on the successful CW comedy series Jane the Virgin in 2017 for one season and in 2018, was cast in a recurring role as Shane on the MTV series Scream: The TV Series.
On the big screen, he stars in the role of Lucas Moreno opposite Lucy Hale in the horror film Blumhouse's Truth or Dare (2018).
Tyler, who was once engaged to his childhood sweetheart, makeup artist Seana Gorlick, dated actress Bella Thorne for a while, but is now dating actress Sophia Ali, whom he met while filming Truth or Dare.
Tyler loves singing, writing music and lyrics, and all kinds of sports..
