Tyler Hoechlin Biography

Born in Corona, California, Tyler Hoechlin was an impressive athlete before turning to acting. A talented baseball player, he earned a scholarship to Arizona State University and later played for the University of California, Irvine. After an injury cut his baseball career short, Tyler shifted his focus to acting full-time.

He made his film debut as Michael Sullivan Jr. in Road to Perdition (2002) opposite Tom Hanks, earning critical praise and a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Young Actor He went on to appear on series such as 7th Heaven (2003-2007) and Lincoln Heights (2009), but his breakout television role came as Derek Hale on MTV’s Teen Wolf (2011–2017), which gained him a devoted fan following.

Tyler was cast as Superman in the Arrowverse’s Supergirl in 2016 and quickly won fans over with a hopeful and grounded take on the iconic character. This led to the lead role in Superman & Lois (2021–2024), where he portrayed Clark Kent as both superhero and father, balancing action with emotional depth.

In addition to his television work, Tyler has appeared in films such as Everybody Wants Some!! (2016), Palm Springs (2020), and Bigger (2018), in which he played fitness icon Joe Weider. His steady performances and approachable screen presence have helped cement his status as a fan-favorite Superman and a reliable actor across genres.
