Troy Miller started off in the film industry as an assistant director before working his way up to writing, producing and directing for music videos and television, including the special opening films for the 1997, 1998 and 2000 Academy Awards®. He had numerous television credits before making his big screen directorial debut with Jack Frost (1998), starring Michael Keaton.
Miller's next two films, The Announcement (2000) and Run, Ronnie Run! (2002), weren’t shown in wide release, but he returned to big screen when he wrote and directed the major release Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003), a prequel to the highly successful Dumb and Dumber (1994).
