Dutch-born actress Thekla Reuten is one of the most respected actresses in Europe and has already played a variety of eye-catching roles in the five languages that she speaks.
After graduating from Amsterdam's Academy of Dramatic Arts, she landed her first starring role on the Dutch television series Wij Alexander. Film and theater roles quickly followed, notably in two features that were both Academy Award-nominated for Best Foreign-Language Film; Dominique Deruddere's Iedereen beroemd! [Everybody's Famous!] and Ben Sombogaart's De Tweeling [a.k.a. Twin Sisters].
Ms. Reuten's other films include Tom Roberts' In Tranzit, alongside Vera Farmiga and John Malkovich; Alex Van Warmerdam's Ober [Waiter]; Margarethe von Trotta's award-winning Rosenstrasse; Randall Fried's Fire Bay; Lancelot von Naso's Ceasefire, which won the Audience Award at the 2009 Zurich Film Festival; Martin McDonagh's In Bruges, opposite Golden Globe Award winner Colin Farrell and The American with George Clooney.
In 2004, she received one of the Berlin International Film Festival's annual Shooting Stars awards. In the spring of 2006, she starred in the U.K. opposite Gael García Bernal in the sold-out Almeida Theatre run of Federico García Lorca's Blood Wedding, directed by Rufus Norris.
Ms. Reuten's work in television has included starring roles in Sleeper Cell, as a series regular; in the telefilm Day One; and in Brett Leonard's telefilm Highlander: The Source. She also made a memorable scene-stealing appearance on Lost, starring in the phenomenon's "The Economist" episode from Season 4.
