Date of Birth: November 26, 1962
Born in California, Davis studied the art of filmmaking at the Los Angeles City College Cinema.
Starting her directing career through music videos for such artists as Hanson, Luscious Jackson, Sonic Youth, Cher and Bette Midler, Davis didn't get around to filming her first feature until her thirties, when she directed Guncrazy (1992) starring Drew Barrymore.
Davis continued to make films throughout the '90s, focusing on films starring comedians from Saturday Night Live, Billy Madison (1995) starring Adam Sandler and Half Baked (1998). At the start of this millennium, Davis returned to working with singers, this time directing Britney Spear's first feature film, Crossroads (2002).
Other than feature films and music videos, Davis has directed documentaries like Mi Vida Loca, and short films such as To the Curb and Sophie goes to the Beach. She helmed the filming of a feature-length concert film for the Indigo Girls, and traveled to Africa where she directed a film for the United Nations about former President Clinton's initiative on landmines.
Davis is married to Mike D, singer of the pop group, the Beastie Boys.
