Spencer MacPherson was born in Ontario, Canada, where he was raised with his two sisters. He attended Cawthra Park Secondary School of the Arts and Drama in Mississauga after acting in musical theatre productions, sparking his love for it.
His television debut was a recurring role as Ranikar on the show Defiance (2015), where he performed in four episodes. He then got his big break on the Canadian series, Degrassi: The Next Generation (2014), playing rich kid Hunter Hollingsworth.
Spencer's film debut came in the horror film Extracurricular (2018), playing a starring role as Ian Gordon. He became known for his role as King Charles on the Canadian-filmed show Reign (2013) and starred in the short film Sorry For Your Loss (2017).
In 2019 he played a starring role in the Canadian film Brotherhood and in 2023 originated the role of Xavier Baxter on the Paramount+ series School Spirits, starring alongside Disney Channel alumnus Peyton List. The series was a hit and is expected to film more seasons.
His most recent role was as Jacob Landry on the series The Way Home (2024) for the Hallmark Channel.
Spencer loves to make art and play music. He is also actively involved with Change The Narr, a charitable organization that helps promote mental health in the entertainment industry. He has also worked with Sick Kids Hospital.
