Best known for her high-profile role as Sansa Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones, rising star Sophie Turner began acting in local theater productions at the age of three, and shows no signs of stopping, having earned a role in the 2016 blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse.
Sophie was born in Northampton, England, along with her two brothers, to a nursery school teacher mother and a pallet distribution worker father. She and her family moved to Chesterton, Warwickshire when she was just two years old. There she became a member of the Playbox Theatre Company and attended Warwick Prep School until she was eleven.
In 2011, at age 14, while attending The King's High School for Girls, Sophie got her very first television role in one of the most hotly anticipated TV series of that year, Game of Thrones. She was cast as the eldest Stark daughter, Sansa, a role that would garner her much attention. Her hectic shooting schedule also had her quit school and turn to homeschooling. Two years after her big break, Sophie landed her first feature film role in the Spanish-British horror film Another Me. She also starred in the television film The Thirteenth Tale that same year. Her next feature came in 2015, in the comedy film Barely Lethal.
Sophie's acting credits began to increase greatly in 2016, when she was cast as young Jean Grey in the superhero sequel X-Men: Apocalypse(2016). She reprised the role in Dark Phoenix (2019). She also starred in the romantic comedy Time Freak (2018) and the thriller Josie (2018).
Now that Game of Thrones has come to an end, Sophie will focus on her film career.
Sophie married Joe Jonas on May 1, 2019 after three years of dating.
