Born: April 10, 1993

Sofia Carson was born Sofía Daccarett Char in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is of Colombian descent. After high school, she attended UCLA.

In 2012, she launched her singing career when she was signed to BMI as a singer and songwriter. Just two years later, she made her first onscreen acting appearance with a guest role on the popular Disney Channel series Austin & Ally.

Later that year, she landed a recurring role on the MTV comedy series Faking It.

However, it was Disney that would make her a star, by casting her as Evie (the daughter of Snow White's Evil Queen) in their original TV movie Descendants, alongside Disney Channel stars such as Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie) and Cameron Boyce (Jessie). The series was a hit and spawned an animated series, Disney: Wicked World, for which she provided the voice of Evie, and a sequel, Descendants 2 (2017).

In 2016 she played a supporting role as Melanie Sánchez in Disney's Spanish-language movie, Tini: El gran cambio de Violetta (Tini: The New Life of Violetta), starring Argentinian popstar Martina Stoessel. The same year she was cast in a starring role in the Disney Channel original series Adventures in Babysitting, alongside Disney star Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World).

Sofia took a step away from Disney to star in the independent movie Asbury Park (2018), alongside Ryan Guzman and Joe Pesci, but returned to reprise her role as Evie in Descendants 3 (2019). In 2020, she starred on the Netflix series Feel the Beat, playing an aspiring performer who returns to her hometown to train young dancers when she doesn't make it on Broadway.

Since then, Sofia starred in the Netflix hit romance drama Purple Hearts (2022), which she also co-wrote and performed much of the soundtrack for, further establishing herself as a rising singer-songwriter. She also appeared in the action-thriller Carry-On (2023) alongside Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, and starred in the romantic drama The Life List (2024). She lent her voice as Pipp Petals in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2022) and reprised the role in several specials.

Most recently, Sofia played the lead role of Anna in the Netflix film My Oxford Year (2025), a romantic drama about an ambitious American student studying at Oxford who is forced to choose between love and her dreams.

Sofia, who was named one of the 50 most beautiful people in the word by the Spanish edition of People, has graced the cover of the Spanish version of Seventeen, as well as the cover of Modelist magazine. She has also been featured in Vogue as "The Disney Star who took Paris Fashion Week by Storm."
