Seth Kearsley began working in animation in 1994 after studying film at the California Institute of the Arts. He started off on MTV's show The Maxx, an adaptation of a comic book by the same name. He then spent a year as a layout artist on The Simpsons before moving on to Disney TV Animation, where he worked on Timon and Pumbaa and Nightmare Ned. While at Disney, he was offered the chance to direct the new TV series, Mummies Alive. He left Disney to take the job, and directed and produced all 42 episodes, as well as writing for the show.
In 1999, he collaborated with former Seinfeld supervising producer Larry Charles on the prime time animated series, Dilbert. Only 26 at the time, Kearsley became the youngest person ever to work as supervising director of a prime time show. He followed that up with a show of his own, Thor: God of Thunder, based on the Nordic myths. The lead character, Thor, was designed to look like Fabio who also lent his voice to the show.
Kearsley made his feature debut with Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights (2002), an animated holiday comedy.
