Born in New York and raised in Texas, Scott Mechlowicz moved to Los Angeles in 2001 to study at UCLA, where he graduated with honors from their Conservatory Acting Program. He played a small role in the independent feature Neverland (2003) before landing his first leading role in a feature film with Eurotrip (2004). When shooting wrapped in Prague on Eurotrip, Mechlowicz immediately flew to Portland, Oregon to begin production on the independent film Mean Creek, co-starring Rory Culkin. Along with the other young members of the cast, Mechlowicz won a Special Distinction award in 2005 from the Independent Spirit Awards.
He took on the starring role in his next film, Peaceful Warrior (2006), which gave him the chance to work with veteran actor Nick Nolte. He has also recently completed work on the thriller Middle of Nowhere (2006), filmed in Australia.
