Robert Peter Williams was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England to Janet and Peter Williams. Growing up he attended St. Margaret Ward Catholic School in Tunstall, where he took part in several school plays. One of his more notable roles was as the Artful Dodger in a production of Oliver.
