Born in Cornwall, New York, Cohen took a golden opportunity to help direct the telefilm Silent Night, Lonely Night, while completing his studies at Harvard University. Degree in hand, Cohen moved to Los Angeles to become a reader for International Famous Agency. After moving to Fox Television, Cohen became a director specializing in television movies.
