Indian actress Priyanka Chopra was born in Jamshedpur, India to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Chopra, who were both Indian Army doctors. As a result, she wound up moving often, which meant she studied at several schools. At 13, she went to the United States to attend high school. She studied in Massachusetts, Iowa and New York.
She later returned to India to finish her senior year of high school. At 18, she won second place in the Femina Miss India 2000 pageant and later that year, she won the Miss World pageant.
After high school, she went on to pursue a career in the film industry. In 2002 she made her movie debut in a Tamil film titled Thamizhan and in 2003, she made her Bollywood debut with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. Her next big film, which earned her several awards and critical acclaim was Aitraaz, in which she played Sonia Roy.
Having made her name in Bollywood, Priyanka then starred in several more Bollywood films, including Don, Fashion, Dostana, Anjaana Anjaani and Barfi!.
In 2012, she made her international singing debut with the single "In My City" featuring Will.i.am. She released her second single "Exotic" in 2013 featuring Pitbull. In 2014, she received critical praise for her role in Mary Kom, playing the title role. It was the first Indian film to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival opening night.
Over the past 15 years, Priyanka has starred in over 60 films and won several awards. In 2015, she made her Hollywood debut with the ABC TV series Quantico, playing the lead role of actress Alex Parrish. She is the first Indian actress to star in a leading network drama on American TV. She won a People’s Choice Award for this role in 2016.
In 2017, Priyanka will made her Hollywood movie debut with Baywatch, alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. She then starred in A Kid Like Jake (2018) and The Sky is Pink (2019), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
She’ll next be seen in Netflix’s We Can Be Heroes and an adaptation of the Man Booker Prize winning novel “The White Tiger,” which she is also executive producing.
She signed a two-year multimillion-dollar first-look television deal with Amazon. She'll be starring in the Amazon series Citadel, by the Russo brothers, alongside Richard Madden. She'll also be seen in the upcoming Matrix 4 film alongside Keavue Reeves.
After a year of dating, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas tied the knot in two elaborate ceremonies in India in 2018. The first Christian wedding ceremony took place on December 1, 2018, as the couple exchanged vows. They had a second Hindu ceremony on Sunday. The couple had a multi-day wedding celebration in Mumbai, Jodhpur, and Delhi.
