Born in Lille, France, Philippe Noiret trained at the Centre Dramatique de l'Ouest before making his stage debut. His work ranged from nightclub cabaret to performing the classics with Paris’ Theatre National Populaire, appearing in plays such as Richard II, El Cid, Don Juan and Mary Tudor.
