Toronto-based writer/director Peter Wellington's first feature, Joe's So Mean To Josephine (1996), starring Sarah Polley, won the Claude Jutra Award for best feature film at the 1996 Genie Awards. For his second feature, Luck (2004), Wellington cast Polley again in the leading female role.
For television, Wellington directed the Movie Network's six-part television series Slings and Arrows (2003), starring Paul Gross. He has also directed episodes of Canadian series such as Traders, The City, Blue Murder and Exhibit A.
