Date of Birth: July 23, 1973
A native of Brooklyn, Omar Epps is a graduate of the New York High School of the Performing Arts. He made his debut in Ernest R. Dickerson's urban drama Juice (1992). For a time, Epps ran the risk of being typecast, portraying athletes in a string of films. Nevertheless, his performances were consistently solid, and his work in John Singleton's Higher Learning (1995) was outstanding. Epps also had a brief recurring role as Dr. Dennis Grant on the television program ER. He has also played lead roles in films such as The Mod Squad (1999) with Claire Danes, Against the Ropes (2004) alongside Meg Ryan, Alfie (2004) starring Jude Law, and the crime drama A Day in the Life (2009).
Epps has worked steadily on television in recent years, appearing in such series as House, Resurrection, and Shooter. He can also recently be seen in the ensemble comedy flick Almost Christmas (2016).
Behind the camera, Epps has also directed music videos for Heather B, Special Ed and his own rap duo Wolfpak.
